Solar Eclipse Day
April 8th, 2024
What is a Solar Eclipse
A solar eclipse happens when the Moon moves between the Earth and the Sun, blocking the sunlight from reaching the Earth for a brief period. This creates a shadow on the Earth, causing it to become dark during the day as if the Sun has disappeared temporarily.
When will this occur?
The solar eclipse will occur on April 8th
The eclipse will:
Begin at 1:55 pm
Have Maximum Coverage at 3:11 pm
End at 4:24 pm
Viewing the Eclipse
We will be going outside to the playgrounds to view the eclipse at 3:00 pm. The maximum coverage of the sun will take place at 3:11 and will last only for a few minutes.
The eclipse will begin at 1:55 and end at 4:24. This means that the sun will slowly be covered by the moon.
Eclipse Glasses
These need to be worn the entire time students and staff are viewing the eclipse.
